A landlady, a Horse & Jockey

1992 - 1993

It's amazing how it has blurred into one after all this time but I remember Rysz from the Horse & Jockey back when Jon was doing the rock discos there. I may have met him before that because Ewa and Jon had been together a little before then but it was the craziness of the Jockey that stands out. Rysz got on well with the landlady, Krystina and I can remember them having some very deep, philosophical conversations outside. Krystina was (presumably, still is) happily married but Rysz was in one of those meaningless relationships that we all have at some point in our lives. I remember Rysz having a smile on his face even though he was delivering a dry and ascerbic comment. I could not help thinking that there was a bit of mischief behind what he said. Jon went on to Monty's and I took over at the Jockey for a few months. There were still the odd get togethers (usually at Jon and ewa's house [sorry Ewa}) afterwards. There were some silly nights aound Walmersley but I don't think Rysz was there the night Carmine was sat on Jon's car singing Govinda (or was it Tattva?) but he should have been. Looking back, the time in the early 90s was all too brief but strangely, we all changed direction in one way or another.
