I hadnt know Rysz all that long before he moved away, but the times he used to visit was one of the highlights of my Sunday. My cousin Jon (Rysz's brother in law), Rysz and myself (Rysz's cousin in law) would hide away upstairs whilst the women of the house prepared Sunday dinner, we would have the usual chit chat about life, the universe and everything, topics would range from cheesy music, films and how fast does a disc player spin, it would be that intense...this would then descend into the popular micky taking of each other. One Sunday Rysz turns up his normal cheeky cheery self, jumps on the bed, puts his feet up, when Jon and myselfs gaze navigated to Rysz feet, to be met by the famous Sandels worn by Brian, from "The Life of Brian" well not quite Brian's but a bloody close resemblance of them.. That was the queue for for Jon and Myself to start the quotes from the film.."Follow the Shoe", "Hes not the Messiah, hes a very naughty boy" and "how much for the gord?" to name drop a few. This was the first time Rysz was beat, as no snappy come backs. Rysz. Like Jon and Myself could take a good joke and I felt comfortable in his presence to do so, something rare in people I know, but you know who you can and cant with and Rysz was one of them who you could defiantly have a good laugh with. As a compensation from the onslaught of ribbing, Rysz was introduced to Sloe Gin, normally we would have wine at the dinner table, but the odd occasion Jon and Myself would take it in turns to buy a bottle of Sloe Gin as a treat. Rysz took an instant shine to it, and over the period of eating dinner he almost finished the bottle. Now no complaints about that as the lad needed it from the barrage of micky take, he took. But every time after that when the bottle appeared at the table, it would slowly, without our witnessing it, disappear. hmm! now who could that have been? So Rysz, the next time we meet my friend, its your turn to buy a bottle. You are missed my friend Steve Clark. Oh! we never did see the Shoes again. oops.
